From the design of buildings to the design of space
Building design is performed on the environment's terms. The architect asks how the building wants to be positioned on site and what the site demands from the building. Other questions to answer include which kind of houses are there nearby, whether the plot is located on undulating or level ground, and whether there is a motorway or woods next to it.
When you move indoors, the design will be determined by what type of atmosphere the inhabitant wishes to create in the home.
"The home can also be a series of spaces, with interlinking parts between these spaces," states architect Ville Hara.
| Ville Hara first became famous for the observation tower he designed for Helsinki's Korkeasaari Zoo; the tower's innovative web shell structure has attracted substantial attention around the world. Hara is currently employed together with Anu Puustinen at Avanto Architects, working on everything from environmental art to urban planning. http://www.avan.to/ | |
