Timber always tries to reach a moisture content balance in relation to the relative humidity of the ambient air. When the relative humidity of the ambient air rises, timber absorbs water and swells, and when the relative humidity of the ambient air goes down, timber releases its water and shrinks. Hygienic properties
Neither UV-hardened acrylic lacquer nor linseed oil based wood oil provides any kind of substrata for bacteria or mites that cause allergies. Lacquering and oiling also seal the surface of the wood preventing the dust from spreading into ambient air.

Tonal changes
UV radiation from the sun causes hardwood floors to slightly change in colour over time. The change in tone is natural and takes place in the woods surface. The UV radiation does not affect the lacquer or oil finish.

Wood hardness
The Brinell scale indicates the comparative hardness of different wood species. As a rule the higher the Brinell-hardness, the better the floor's ability to withstand impacts, indentations and wear.

Medullary ray of Oak
