Baroque heat treatment

Upofloor Hardwood Floors made from heat-treated wood create a warm, intimate atmosphere and give the décor an exquisite, golden effect.

Heat treatment is an environmentally friendly method that accentuates the characteristics of genuine wood. In the heat treatment process the wood is heated to over 200°C without any additives, in strictly monitored computerised circumstances.

During the heat treatment, the porous structure of the wood changes as moisture and different organic compounds are extracted diminishing the wood's natural tendency to expand and contract by up to 50 - 90%. In addition the wood is dyed throughout gaining a darker shade of brown.

Heat treatment changes the appearance of the traditional light wood types so that they can be used as an alternative to the dark tropical woods, thus saving the delicate nature of the rainforests.

Heat treated hardwood floor from ash is available in the Upofloor Tempo Collection.
